Mindfulness retreat in Bodhgaya

A 11-day tour featuring Dalai Lama’s teachings, introduction to Tibetan Buddhism and Pilgrimage to Buddha path.       (11th JAN 2018 TO 21ST JAN 2018)

 BRIEFING:Welcome to inner voyage into the realms of spirituality, an inward journey that will awaken the seed of Bodhichitta, the Buddha nature: an inherent quality in every sentient being, realization of which will led you to the ultimate liberation of yourself.

This divine tour is a window into the esoteric world of Tibetan Buddhism: a lifetime opportunity to receive blessings and teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama; guided pilgrimage with experienced Buddhist masters to the sacred Buddhist sites in and around Bodhgaya; introduction on mindful meditation; partaking in Green Tara Puja for removing any obstacle in your life; participation in Chod prayer session, a tantric ritual for cutting through one’s ego and we assist you in your search for inner peace, expand your mental horizon and its well being.

YOUR DAILY ROUTINe: We will keep our schedule relatively flexible to accommodate your immediate needs. However, we will still follow a lenient program as detailed below:

 

DAWN:

  • Waking up to the hot steaming cup of cleansing Tibetan herbal tea will invigorate your mind and generate positive energy.
  • Sitting Meditation at dawn to revitalize your mind and body throughout the day and calm down your chattering mind. You also have an option to combine the practice with daily morning puja if you wish.
  • Walking meditation around the Mahabodhi Tree & Temple: where the Buddha achieved enlightenment. The circumambulation or kora is an age-old religious tradition followed by the Tibetan. Circumambulation is done to cleanse the bodily defilement. It is also to pay your reverence to the sacred place.

 

MORNING:

  • Introduction to Buddhism by Geshe a Tibetan Buddhism scholar
  • To Attend the Dalai Lama’s teachings on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel)Gyalsey Thokme Sangpos’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma)
  • Pilgrimage tour to Bodhi tree, Mahabodhi temple, Nalanda, Vulture peak, Sarnath and Varanasi.

 

EVENING:

  • Recapitulation of daytime teachings, penal discussion and Q&A sessions
  • Green Tara Puja: This prayer is done to remove any obstacles in your life, be it spiritual or mundane. Participation in these rituals may benefit you from clearing the obstacles that deters you from achieving success.
  • Chod ritual is an esoteric tantric practice aiming at cutting your ego or attachment to your body by mental visualizing the offering of your body to all sentient being especially to the restless hungry creatures of the spirit world. Highly realized tantric masters perform this ritual.

 

Holy sites to be visited:

  • Mahabodhi Tree & Temple: where the Buddha achieved enlightenment
  • Vulture’s Peak: where the Buddha taught the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras turning the 3rd wheel of Dharma
  • Nalanda: it is said to be one of the earliest universities in the world, founded in the 5th century, where renowned Buddhist scholars such as Nagarjuna, Chandrakirti and Shanti deva studied.
  • Sarnath: Sarnath is the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples on four noble truth

·      Varanasi: the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Along the city’s winding streets are some 2,000 temples.

DAY-TO-DAY SCHEDULE

DAY 1: DELHI (11th Jan 2018)

  • Arrival at Indra Gandi International Airport and check into respective hotel.

DAY 2: DELHI – BODHGAYA (12th Jan 2018)

  • Early Breakfast
  • Drive to airport to fly to Patna Airport and after arrival drive to Bodhgaya. About 5 hour drive to Bodhgaya and check into hotel
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+d)

DAY 3: BODHGAYA (13th Jan 2018) (B+D)

  • Morning begins at 6:30am with steaming a cup of cleansing Tibetan medicinal herbal tea, followed by guided breathing meditation for 45 min
  • After breakfast registration for teaching
  • Visit to Mahabodhi Temple and Walking tour or circumambulation (Kora) of Mahabodhi Temple.
  • Evening Introduction of His Holiness teaching and panel discussion with tour Teacher
  • Overnight stay at Hotel in Bodhgaya
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

DAY 4: BODHGAYA (14th Jan 2018) (B+D)

  • Morning begins at 6:00am
  • Teaching by His Holiness Dalai Lama’s teachings on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel)Gyalsey Thokme Sangpos’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma)
  • Free for lunch
  • Visit to Karmapa monastery afternoon.
  • If H.H the 17th Karmapa is available at monastery at time of your visit, we will request for special audience
  • Evening teaching review and panel discussion with tour Teacher
  • Overnight at Hotel in Bodhgaya
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

 DAY 5: BODHGAYA (15th Jan 2018)  (B+D)

  • Guided Breathing Meditation 45 min beginning at 6:00am
  • Breakfast
  • Continues teachings by His Holiness on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel)Gyalsey Thokme Sangpos’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma)
  • Free for Lunch
  • After noon to attend private Green Tara puja at noon held especially for the group.
  • Recapitulation of daytime teachings and panel discussion with your tour teacher.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel in Bodhgaya
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

DAY 6:  BODHGAYA  (16th Jan 2018) (B+D)

  • Guided Meditation at 6:00am
  • Breakfast
  • Continuous teaching by His Holiness on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel)Gyalsey Thokme Sangpos’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma)
  • Chod prayer session with Tibetan Yogi
  • Evening Recapitulation of daytime teachings and panel discussion with your tour teacher.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel in Bodhgaya
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

DAY 7: BODHGAYA  (17th Jan 2018) (B+D)

  • Early Breakfast
  • Pilgrimage tour to Vulture’s Peak and Nalanda
  • Overnight stay at Hotel in Bodhgaya
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

DAY 8: BODHGAYA – VARANASI (18th Jan 2018)

  • Guided meditation at 6:00
  • After breakfast, Transfer to airport and fly to Varanasi.
  • Evening participate in Ganga Aarti. Get a glimpse of the spiritualism at the Ganga Ghats. Relish Ganga Aarti on boat
  • Overnight at Varanasi hotel.
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+D)

DAY 9: Varanasi (19th Jan 2018)

  • Early moring boat ride on the Ganges to experience Ganges as devotees offer water to the Sun God and believers taking holy dip in the Ganges.
  • Visit some Hindu temple
  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Pilgrimage tour to Sarnath (Buddha temples, the Dhamekha stupa, Chaukhandi stupa and the archaeological museum)
  • Overnight at Varanasi hotel.
  • Breakfast and Dinner provided (B+L)

DAY 10: VARANASI – DELHI (20th Jan 2018)

  • After Breakfast drive to airport and fly Delhi
  • After arrival check into hotel
  • Overnight at Delhi hotel.
  • Breakfast provided (B)

 DAY 11: DELHI (21st  Jan 2018)  (B)

  • Breakfast
  • Visit to National museum in New Delhi (relics of Buddha)
  • Visit Majnu Ka Tilla, The Tibetan refugee colony is known for its exotic food, especially momos. At our final lunch together, scrumptious momos will be served.
  • Free for shopping at Tibet colony
  • Evening prepare for your international flight.
  • Transfer to International Airport for outbound flight in the late evening.
  • Breakfast provided (B)
